CollectedMed does not provide medical advice

Everything published on CollectedMed.com is general health information, provided for education and reference only.

It is not medical advice. It is not a diagnosis. It is not a treatment plan. Reading this website does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and CollectedMed, FnF Media LLC, or anyone who writes for us.

We are a publisher. We do not know you, your history, your medications or your circumstances, and we cannot examine you. Only a qualified healthcare professional can do that.

In an emergency

If you think you are having a medical emergency, stop reading and get help now.

Call your local emergency number or go to your nearest emergency department. Do not delay because you want to finish an article or send us a question. We cannot help you, and time may matter.

Emergency numbers include 911 in the United States, 999 or 112 in the UK and much of Europe, 000 in Australia, and 999 in Bangladesh. If you are elsewhere, use your local emergency service.

Always consult a professional

Speak to a qualified clinician before you:

  • Start, stop or change any medication, including over-the-counter drugs
  • Begin a new supplement, particularly if you take prescription medication
  • Change your diet significantly, especially if you have a chronic condition
  • Start a new exercise programme, especially after illness, injury, surgery or pregnancy
  • Act on anything you have read here that concerns your own health

Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read on this website.

If a clinician who has examined you says something different from what you read here, follow the clinician. They have information about you that we never will.

What our content can and cannot do

It can help you understand what a term means, what a condition generally involves, what questions to ask at an appointment, and what the current published evidence broadly says.

It cannot tell you what is wrong with you, whether a symptom is serious in your case, which treatment you should have, what dose is right for you, or whether a medication is safe alongside the others you take.

Do not use our articles to self-diagnose or to diagnose someone else. Symptoms overlap across conditions — including between minor problems and serious ones — and the differences that matter usually require examination or testing to find.

Accuracy, currency and limits

We base our articles on published medical literature, clinical guidelines and public health sources, and we work to keep them current. Even so:

  • Medical knowledge changes. Guidance that was standard when an article was published may have been revised since.
  • Evidence is often incomplete or contested. Where that is true, we try to say so, but not every uncertainty can be captured in an article.
  • Guidance varies by country. Drug names, approved uses, dosages, availability, screening schedules and treatment protocols differ between health systems. What applies in one country may not apply where you live.
  • General information does not fit every individual. Age, pregnancy, other conditions, other medications, allergies and genetics all change what is appropriate. Articles are written for a general reader, not for you.

We make no warranty that any article is complete, accurate, current or suitable for any particular purpose.

Third-party content and advertising

Our articles link to external websites, and our pages display advertising served by third-party networks. We do not control that content.

Ads and sponsored products are not medical recommendations. Advertising networks serve supplement, clinic and treatment ads that we have not reviewed and do not endorse. Health claims made in advertising should be treated with the same caution you would apply anywhere else, and checked with a clinician.

Comments left by other readers, where enabled, are the views of those readers. They are not medical advice, they are not reviewed by us for accuracy, and they should not be acted on.

Products and supplements

We do not sell, manufacture or supply any product. Where we mention one, that mention is not a recommendation that you personally should take or use it.

Supplements deserve particular caution. They are regulated far more loosely than prescription medicines in most countries, quality varies between manufacturers, and many interact with prescription drugs. Ask a pharmacist or doctor before adding one, especially if you take medication for blood pressure, blood thinning, diabetes, thyroid function, or mental health.

Mental health

If you are struggling with your mental health, please reach out to someone who can help — a doctor, a mental health professional, or a crisis line in your country. Our articles are not a substitute for that support, and we are not able to provide it.

Do not send us your medical information

Please do not email us, message us, or post in comments with details of your symptoms, diagnosis, test results or medications.

We cannot review them. We cannot respond to them. We do not want to hold them. Any such message will be deleted, and the answer will always be the same: please speak to a qualified clinician.
